        Heritage Poultry Breeders Association of America:
Dedicated to the promotion of large fowl chickens, and all

   varieties of ducks, geese, & turkeys.


Definitions:
Rare/Heritage:  Any breed of chicken, duck, goose, or turkey that has been in this country for more than fifty (50) years.  All breeds that have been accepted by the American Poultry Association prior to the year 1952.  The Delaware chicken was the last documented breed fully accepted by the A.P.A. and that was in 1952.

New/Project:  Any breed of chicken, duck, goose, or turkey that is not yet accepted fully by the American Poultry Association.  This includes all breeds that are being crossed to develope better genes, new colors, or better characteristics but is not yet a finished project.  These breeds have been in the U.S. less than fifty (50) years.
